As part of a hands-on experimentation project that combined interest in aeronautics, science, and some overall fun, a handful of fifth grade students participated in the launchings of model rockets into the sky on Thursday, April 30th. Led by veteran teacher and Maple Leaf Elementary alumnus Paul Kijinski, this group of students used their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics skills to learn about meteorology, force, model rockets and more, in order to launch this projectile approximately 1,000 feet into the atmosphere. To help educate the students, Garfield Heights resident Dan Jakubowski also presented to the students regarding the important connection between weather and rocket launches. Great job Mr. Kijinski and Maple Leaf students for successfully participating in this epic model rocket launch and experimentation!
