In a manner similar to the offerings in the Alternative School, alternative placements temporarily remove students from the regular school setting. Students are given alternative placements in lieu of suspensions from school. In some cases, this placement may amount to a cooling-off period for students who committed offenses that, under ordinary circumstances and without the benefit of an alternative placement, would have caused them to be suspended out of school.
