The Superintendent's Office is responsible for the successful overall operation of the Garfield Heights City Schools. Appointed by the Board of Education, the Superintendent is the chief administrative officer of the district and works hand-in-hand with the Board of Education to lead the district academically and to operate the district in a fiscally responsible manner. The Superintendent is legally bound to carry out and implement the rules, policies, regulations, and instructions of the Board of Education. Employment and position assignment recommendations for district personnel are made by the Superintendent's Office as well. The Superintendent is also responsible for critical evaluation of staff members and academic and co-curricular programming, to ensure an optimal educational experience for district students. The Office of the Superintendent spearheads the communications effort with the community-at-large and makes reports of changes, innovations, and current trends in public education in a timely manner to all stakeholders of the district.
