Garfield Heights High School Band Students Shine at OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest
Garfield Heights, OH – On Saturday, January 25th, several talented musicians from Garfield Heights High School showcased their skills at the Ohio Music Educators Association’s (OMEA) Solo and Ensemble Contest. This prestigious event allows students to perform in front of a judge, receive feedback, and earn ratings based on their performances, all while working to improve their musicianship.
Many of our students demonstrated outstanding musical abilities, earning top ratings in their respective categories. The OMEA scoring system ranges from 1 to 5, with 1 being the highest possible rating. We are proud to recognize the following students who excelled at this year’s competition:
Kiera Wilson – Received a 1 in Class A for her snare drum solo.
Myah Bonner – Received a 1 in Class C for her trumpet solo.
Elijah Hall – Received a 2 in Class B for his trumpet solo.
Trae Randle – Received a 2 in Class B for his trombone solo.
Rosalie Toney – Received a 2 in Class C for her trombone solo.
(Class A represents college-level music, Class B is upper-level high school music, and Class C is intermediate-level high school music.)
Congratulations to all the students who participated in this year’s Solo and Ensemble Contest! Their dedication and passion for music were evident in their performances, and they should be incredibly proud of their achievements. If you see any of these students, be sure to congratulate them on their hard work and success!
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Garfield Heights City Schools Instrumental Music Department for their continued support and encouragement of these young musicians. Their guidance and dedication play a vital role in shaping the future of our talented students.
