Elmwood Wins District-Wide Food Drive

Elmwood Wins District-Wide Food Drive

Congratulations to Elmwood Elementary School, who collected the most items of all the school buildings during the Annual District-Wide Food Drive. Elmwood’s grand total reached 1,994 collected food items and with the help of the bus garage staff, Elmwood was able to donate over 2,000 food items. The K-Kids Club students in grades 3, 4 and 5 worked hard each morning as they collected food items from each classroom, sorted items and packed items to be ready for delivery to the local food bank. Students also kept track of each classroom’s progress of donated items on a bar graph posted on the front hallway bulletin board at Elmwood. All of Elmwood’s classes should be proud of how well they did, however this school year there were two winning classrooms. In the K-2 competition, Ms. Mather’s kindergarten class collected the most food items. The winning class in the 3-5 competition was Ms. Maher’s third grade class. Both classrooms earned a pizza party!

On Monday, November 21, 2016, with the assistance of the bus garage and many of their staff, the 5th grade K-Kids club students and 4 Elmwood staff members traveled by school bus to the Rock Church to deliver all of our donated food items to their food pantry. They were overwhelmed by our donations and said they appreciated our assistance greatly. Thank you to the staff and K-Kids students who traveled for the delivery! And, thank you to all of Elmwood’s students, families and staff for their very kind generosity!
