Ms. Toya Owens-Hodge, School Social Worker at Maple Leaf Elementary School, was named one of WKYC's Everyday Champions! Everyday Champions is a series of stories the news station will be running during the Olympics where they will profile individuals who are going above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. One of the best things about this program is that all of the people being featured have been nominated by their peers, so it is not about self-promotion, but a way of viewers giving thanks to those they see impacting life in a positive way. In the case of Ms. Hodge, she was actually nominated by two different people for her efforts in helping people through tough times and going above and beyond in her role as a guidance counselor.
