The Garfield Heights City Schools does not condone bullying under
any circumstances. Bullying can also include
cyberbullying, which involves using cellphones, email, instant messages, chat
rooms, or social media sites like Twitter or FaceBook to threaten, harass, or
intimidate someone. In order for an act
to qualify as bullying, it must happen more than once.
When a bullying report is made to a building administrator, he or
she must determine whether or not the act was bullying. The act must have occurred more than
once. Here are some examples of acts that
typically would not be considered
bullying:
Knocking someone’s hat off
Accidentally bumping into
someone
Telling someone, “I don’t like you.”
Making fun of someone once
Arguing with or disagreeing
with someone
Not allowing someone to play
on a team at recess
Rude behavior
Being mean to someone
If you are not certain about
whether or not you should report an act as being one of bullying, you can do
any or all of the following:
=
Contact a building or district administrator.
=
Use our Anonymous Alerts Quick Link that is on
the front page of our website
=
See further definitions of bullying under the
