Welcome to Garfield Heights City Schools LPDC

The committee defines High Quality Professional Development (HQPD) according to the Ohio Standards of Professional Development. HQPD is defined as an on-going, systematic process, linked to the daily practice of educators and based on data-driven needs.

The goal of the Garfield Heights Professional Development Committee is two-fold: to promote and encourage high quality professional staff development and to insure a fair and equitable processing of licensure.

The five characteristics of HQPD are:

  1. A purposeful, structured and continuous process that occurs over time;
  2. Determined by multiple sources of data;
  3. Collaborative;
  4. Includes varied learning experiences;
  5. Is evaluative by short and long-term impact on professional practice and student achievement; and
  6. Is aligned with personal, building, district, state and national goals.

*Note:  The conversion for a quarter hour to a semester hour is 2/3.

If you choose to take a course through www.courses4teachers.net please be aware that credit awarded through the University of the Pacific Bernard College takes 4-6 weeks to process. They do not offer e-transcripts.  Please keep this in mind when planning to use these credits.  If we do not have an OFFICIAL transcript (letters of completion are not acceptable) we cannot verify the class.  This could cause you to not renew your license on time if you wait until the last month or so.
