High School Music and Band Boosters Earn Media Recognition

Multiple media outlets were on-hand at Garfield Heights High School earlier this week. They came to spend time with the student vocalists and musicians who will be participating in a unique opportunity related to the Republican National Convention and, in the process, raising funds for their organizations. Reporters and news cameras visited the high school during performances by the marching band, jazz band and Music Express for elementary students in the district. These groups have been given an opportunity to blow up balloons for the Republican National Convention that will take place in downtown Cleveland in mid-July 2016. Invited by a Garfield Heights balloon vendor, these students will travel to Quicken Loans Arena on Friday, July 15, 2016 and inflate more than 100,000 balloons between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. In exchange for their time, the organizations will raise thousands of dollars for themselves. To highlight this once-in-a-lifetime experience, Fox-8 News and Channel 19 News came out to interview students and group advisors. Stay tuned for more developments on this story as the district approaches this event.
