The Garfield Heights City Schools is pleased to offer two preschool programs for residents of Garfield Heights:
The Garfield Heights Preschool 1/2 Day Program serves typically developing children and children with special needs who live in the Garfield Heights City School District.
The Head Start Full Day Program serves children ages 4-5 (as long as they are not 5 years old before September 30th of the current school year).
Transportation to both programs is the parent's responsibility.
Those children not accepted at this time will be placed on a waiting list and notified in the event of a vacancy in the program of interest. Vacancies are filled throughout the year as they may occur and will be filled with the following considerations in mind: age, income level, residence, placement on the waitling list and other relevant factors. Parents will receive notification when an opening becomes available for their child. Our preschool programs are designed to give students a head start into kindergarten. Therefore, children will be expected to attend on a regular basis. Students who have 10 or more unexcused absences or 20 absences during a quarter, will be removed from the program. Special needs preschoolers will have to enroll for preschool through our Special Education Pupils Services office. They can be contacted at 216-475-8100.
