Dear William Foster Parents,
The second semester is off to a fantastic start, with
students and staff showing a continued excitement and desire for learning. STAR
testing is currently underway in the subjects of reading and math so please be
mindful of the various routines that you conduct with your children on the home
front that ensure success in the classroom. The building is focusing on three
words or concepts which are continually being reinforced. Those are, Learn,
Work Hard and Behave. Constant
reminders of these concepts with your students at home will supplement the
daily reinforcement they receive at school. The OST exams, which are
forthcoming for student in grades 3
through 5 in April, will also be another source of focus for William Foster
over the next several months. Please do
all that you can to help your son or daughter remain positive, rested and well
fed during these periods of testing in the coming weeks and months.
Positive behavior also continues to be a focus in addition to student studies. Children at all grade levels are expected to demonstrate the traits of being: prompt and prepared, accepting responsibility, hard work and showing respect. These are characteristics that will transcend not only our students’ respective time at William Foster, but also as they progress throughout their time in our District. They are life lessons and we will expect the highest standards for our students. Students who arrive at school every day on time and come prepared to learn with the idea that each new day is a fresh start, will be positively incentivized through our PAWS program.
Students must continually be prepared for the
weather as well, so please ensure that they are properly dressed with hats,
gloves, coats and boots.
Finally, if your child is going to be absent, we ask that you extend the courtesy to please call the school in order to ensure the safety of our students. Also, unexpected changes in how your child will go home, whether it’s a ride from you as a parents or other special provision, must be shared with the main office by 2 p.m. so that we can notify your child’s teacher. Phone calls requiring the attention of either me or Mrs. Frimel are welcomed. Please call and leave us a voice message and we will return your inquiry within 24 hours. On the occasions where you stop into the school and we are unavailable, please fill out the proper form, supply us with information and we will get back to you as soon as practicable.
Thank you for your continued support of the
William Foster family.
