A Message from the Principal - Mr. Sean Patton

November 2017

Dear Families -

The start of the school year has produced an outstanding job by all students, who have returned to school for the 2017-2018 School Year with clear hope and a desire to succeed. A new building-wide emphasis on academics has been launched and is being advanced, in part, by STAR reading and math tests, which are being used to evaluate and understand student strengths and weaknesses. These tests also play a big role in preparation for the spring statewide tests. Parents can always help with time spent on math facts and reading on a daily basis, and the entire William Foster staff strongly encourages this.

Be sure to check out You Tube, where our very own Mr. Neluna has begun taping our a.m. announcements and uploading them for visitors to watch. These announcements serve as important reminders for PAWS activities and other expectations at school.

In the last few months, William Foster was recognized by the Ohio Department of Education for another 5-star rating on our preschool program and also received a Silver Award for our PBIS work. Congratulations to everyone involved!

William Foster cordially thanks the PTA for their help in organizing and preparing the annual Donuts with Dads event last month. Parents are to be commended for their involvement with Parent Teacher Conferences as well. Thank you for filling out the surveys, and sharing your feedback about William Foster, and for playing such a pivotal role in your child’s education. Ask questions each day, such as ‘what did you learn at school?’ Or, ‘What is coming up in class?... test, quizzes or about homework.’ Also, please be sure to check the students’ blue folders and backpacks daily.  Lastly, please continue to check in with your child's teacher and check their backpacks.

The weather is changing, so please be sure to check the morning announcements and to send your students to school with the proper warm winter attire. Our monthly newsletter has important reminders and events as they are posted.

Don’t forget about Math Night on Thursday, November 9, 2017 along with our book fair!
