Team Pride Update - March & April

In Our Classrooms:

• Social Studies - Students finished up their unit on the first five presidents with a Presidential Times Newspaper Project and an analysis of Andrew Jackson’s presidency.They are now completing a unit on Westward Expansion by making territory travel posters. 

• Language Arts - We read Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. Students really enjoyed both the short story and the experiments we did with rorschach tests as an extension. STAR reader scores have gone up for the majority of Team Pride students. We have completed on practice test in preparation for state testing April 19th and 20th.  

• Math - We are preparing for the Air Test by taking the practice test and working problems out on the new Desmos Calculator. Approximately 90% of all students increased on STAR Math.

• Science - Students are currently in our noncontact forces unit.  We have investigated how magnets, static electricity, and gravity work.  We have just begun designing electromagnets to compete in our scrapyard challenge.

• Health - Students finished the unit on Medications, Drugs, and Drug Abuse this week.  There are 3 units that we will cover after spring break which are communicable diseases (sexually transmitted infections), mental health and healthy relationships, and reproduction and childbirth.  The final exam for Health 9 is scheduled for May 21, 2018. This is a mandatory exam.
