Ileen Kelner Juried High School Art Show

Features Outstanding Original Work by Area Art Students

Beachwood, Ohio…Beachwood Arts Council’s Ileen Kelner Juried High School Art Show features the dynamic original work of more than 90 students from 24 Cleveland area schools. This engaging exhibition opened on Sunday, February 10 with a festive reception and award ceremony attended by students, friends, family members, teachers and friends of the arts. The exhibition will be on view at the Beachwood Community Center, 25225 Fairmount Blvd. through March 3, 2019.

In the judges’ words, “The 2019 show demonstrates an increased degree of representation.  The work of these young artists on display embraced the challenges of the human form and face with great results.”

For the twenty-fourth year, Beachwood Arts Council has been fortunate to bring together students, teachers and friends of the arts throughout northeast Ohio for this uniquecultural experience. This project aims to endorse art in the schools and to encourage creative expression, hone artistic skills, and promote professionalism among high school art students through the experience of a competitive juried exhibition. Through creative competition, the students are able to define their talents as they relate to their peers across the community.

The students were asked to provide work that expresses “originality, craftsmanship and the students’ personal view of his or her world.”
