Bulldog Wrestling Scores @ Brush Duel Meet Tournament

“Over the weekend the wrestling team traveled to Brush high school to compete in their first dual meet tournament of the season. Although it was their first bit of action this year, the bulldogs wasted no time and defeated the home team Brush 37-27 thanks to big wins by Eyad Jibrin, Damon Teague, and Jason Cieplinski. They then lost to Shaker Heights in a close match 42-50, even though they had to forfeit 5 matches. This loss did not slow down the team, and they continued to roll through Eastlake North 48-36, and Akron Buchtel 48-22.  The team finished off the day in a close loss to Cleveland Heights that put the team at 3 wins and 2 losses for the day, but the team performed much better than advertised. James Rankin, Andrew McClinton, Gabe Mayes, Eyad Jibrin, David Diamond and Marcus Woods all went undefeated on the day, and Demarius Smith finished the day with 4 wins. Although we did not bring home a team award, first year wrestler Marcus Woods was awarded the MVP of the tournament following his 4-0 day with 4 pins, one of which came in just 17 seconds. The wrestling team looks forward to continuing their success this Saturday the 14th at Cuyahoga Heights High School.
